I recently filled out a couple of surverys online for free gift card. This paticular one was home depot and Macy’s, Maidenform, WaLmart, Starbucks. I didn’t use my home address or give an email address, I used my work info as little as possible. I never received a gift card. However today I received at work a Letter fom Oceanic Trust, Inc. With a large check made out to me from Maidenform, Inc 154 Ave E NJ. the signer on the check has the name of The Vice Chair & CEO of Maidenform I looked it up, It says check is to cover Taxs/ fees for receiving a larger grant that doesn’t have to be paid back. It says the Money for the grant comes from Donors such as the Companys I mentioned above and many more that were on the survey I filled out. It does say that the 4000 check I received today for the Taxes and Fees will be deducted from the finle amount of the grant. The letter however does not say anything about being a Goveronment Grant . Can you Find out if this is a scam? Terri W
I received the same exact thing! I called the number for the claim and they did not ask for any personal information. They said that i had to cash the check and send them $2998 of the check to cover the fees & to send it thru Western Union. I also called the bank listed on the check and they said check was valid. I have been researching on the internet for anything i could find. This is what i have found so far…the Better Business Bureau shows a listing for Oceanic Trust but the file was opened Nov 07 and i have not been able to map neither the address given to me to send the money nor the address given on the BBB website. I am going to take the check to our bank & have them see if it is valid. I know this answer may not exactly help you but I wanted to share the info that I have found. If anyone finds anything further please update.
